Shiribetsu River

The clear Shiribetsu River follows around the Mt. Yotei
From the sources of Mt. Furedake in the westside of the watershed of neighbor basin, the Siribetsu River flows a detour around Mt. Yotei while meeting many reaches to the Japan Sea. It is the largest drainage system on the Shiribeshi district by 126 km length and 1,640 km2 basin size. The clear and rich water is essential not only conservation of the biodiversity but also the agriculture and some hydroelectric power generations. The Siribetsu River is the mother river for the local people of 5 towns and 2 villages in the basin.
